Australian Boomers to hold open training session Thursday night in Perth

With only three days until tip-off for game one of the YouYi Games, the Australian Boomers men’s basketball team’s three-game showdown with China, the Boomers will be holding an open training session tomorrow night, Thursday 7 June, at 5.15pm.

Come down and see your favourite Boomers players on the training court, including local heroes Damian Martin, Jesse Wagstaff, Greg Hire and rising star Cody Ellis.

Also in the squad are European-based star players Matt Nielsen and Aron Baynes, along with rising star US College player Matthew Dellavedova and NBL stars Mark Worthington, Adam Gibson and Peter Crawford.

The team will train from 5:15pm until 7:45pm at the WA Basketball Centre, 201 Underwood Avenue, Floreat, with local fans granted rare access to see some of Australia’s best players put through their paces.

At the camp’s conclusion on Friday, a Boomers team will be selected to battle China in the YouYi Games, which tips off on Saturday, 9 June at Challenge Stadium in Perth at 2pm, seeing the growing rivalry between Australia and China continue.

The second clash of the YouYi Games moves to Albany on Monday, 11 June, tipping off at 7pm, before returning to Perth and Challenge Stadium for the third and final match-up on Wednesday 13 June, with a start time of 8pm.
