Australian Under 14 Club Championships Update (Day 3)

Rockingham Flames met Maroochydore Clippers in the first game of the morning at Kalamunda and unfortunately went down 55-41. Kyle Havelberg led the way for the Flames with 17 points.

The Flames had the double header in the Shield Division and also took on the Albury Cougars in the afternoon and went down in a heartbreaking 57-51 loss. Bradley Houghton led the charge with 16 points, however they couldn’t contain Jessy Shipard from Albury who finished with 35 points.

Willetton Tigers also suffered two close losses, their opening game saw them go down 60-55 to the Southern Tigers. Sam Cannell (13 points) and Connor Mason (11 points) fought hard.

The second game of the day saw the Tigers go down to the Brisbane Capitals 62-55. Mitch Davies led the Tigers with 16 points and received support from Sam Cannell (15 points) and Connor Mason (10 points). The Tigers struggled to contain Thomas Haines who starred with 29 points for the Capitals.

Perry Lakes Hawks faced the Gold Coast Waves in their first Championship Division match and pulled out a 53-49 win with Jhonny Lutula starring with 27 points and Gerrard Ansey finishing with 16.

Lakeside started their Championship Division play off with a hard fought 50-48 win over North West Tasmania. Isaac Jones led the way with 19 points while Rowan Mackenzie and Brodee Knight both had 10 points.

In the girls competition over at Morphett Vale in SA all three teams kicked off their Shield Division competition yesterday.

Wanneroo Wolves and Rockingham Flames found themselves facing off against each other with the Flames coming out on top 57-47. Ariana Hetherington had 21 points for the Flames and Olivia Lewis finished with 10. Briana Chambers was the Wolves best with nine points.

The Flames went on to face North West Tasmania in the afternoon and went down in a close game 48-41. Ariana Hetherington (11) and Rhianna Klisura (10) led the scoring for Rockingham.

Willetton Tigers were unable to register a win in their two games, going down to Central Districts Lions 60-43 with Rebecca Thomson scoring 18 points and Sabrina Johnston finishing with 10.

The Tigers faced the Southern Districts Spartans later in the day and went down 92-43, Rebecca Thomson was the Tigers best with 13 points.
