Poor start made it hard to catch up. The good thing was our endeavour and aggression. We need to employ the tactics and drills given otherwise our next level of improvement collectively won’t happen.

Congratulations girls on a great win. What a great game, a real team effort. They pulled together for the whole game having the lead in every quarter. They kept it together and came out with a fantastic result.

A close game throughout with great defense. Flames at half time up by 8 points. With the lead changing  a point in it they had to work hard finishing a draw 59 - 59, putting them in overtime 5 minutes. A tough final moments with lack of rebounds the girls where unable to come away with a win. Well done.

This week we showed our best and some of our worst to really let a win that would of been well deserved fall out of our grasp. Trading baskets in the first half we took a six point lead into half time before coming out and locking down at the defensive end to build the lead to 14 within five minutes. In the last quarter we went individual and made bad choices which helped the Lightning eat into the lead with the game going into overtime. In the overtime it was a see sawing affair but we just couldnt get over the line which was tough for the girls who have shown to have made massive inroads in the competition during the first five weeks.

Lakeside jumped out to a 10 point lead before the Flames responded. The first half saw the teams evenly matched and Lakeside went into half time with a 2 pt lead. The start of the third quarter saw the boys outdone with Lakeside starting to march away to a lead. . The boys failed to follow the coaches instructions and with poor passing /defense allowed them to score easy baskets. The Flames only scoring 13 pts for the second half and allowing 30 to the opposition saw them go down by 19 pts.

After a tight game last week, the boys bounced back well and dominated all areas of the game with a great team effort. All players created plenty of opportunity with smart decision making and intense defence, allowing us to run Lakeside off their feet. A solid win by the boys. Congratulations to you all.

The best game I have seen this team play in the two years of being with them. It was a tight contest from the start which saw us up by 3 points at the half. Another third quarter fade out on the defensive end saw us trailing by 8 at the final break. To the boys credit where they would have normally let the other team get away, but they fought back hard to force OT. In OT the boys really put the clamp on defensively and came away with a big upset. The most pleasing thing for me was getting a contribution from all players this week and the teamwork exhibited.

The boys came into the game mentally fatigued and with knowing that we just needed to get through this game before reassessing where we are at and changing up our weekly practise to freshen up. The game began and we were flat from the outset conceeding some open looks before some individual play got us on the scoreboard. Trailing by as many as 14 pts at some stages we went into the last quarter and turned up the heat with our full court defence triggering numerous scores but everytime we got within arms distance the Lightning hit big shots to keep some distance. In the end you can look at it with the glass have full/half empty theory,  playing one strong quarter was nearly enough to get us over the line but on the other hand if we were able to show some intensity for an extra 5-10 minutes we would still of got the win. The troubling factor is that we are falling into the trap of playing individually at the offensive end and not executing our offences which is concerning.

In game in which now looking back seemed doomed from the beginning the boys suffered their first defeat of the season. To add insult to injury the game was wasn't without its share of controversy as Rockingham received four technical fouls. The game was lost from the line which saw Lakeside shoot 20 from 31 and Rockingham only 7 from 12. Other than the score line the biggest difference in the game was the foul count. The boys did well try and overcome impossible obstacles with valiant effort. I'll take the responsibility for this loss as the boys with all that was against them only trialed by a few possession before the game was blown out towards the end.
