A great day at the office! The girls approached this game with the right attitude knowing if they applied the pressure for the full four quarters, the game would be theirs. A bit of a sloppy start but quickly pulled together and attacked the basket with a great deal of confidence and left no holes in their defense. Every quarter they had something different up their sleeve and had an answer for everything that was thrown at them.

Although the girls led at every break, there were a few anxious moments at the end but once again applied the pressure and come out with a well deserved win. A great effort from the whole team!

In the first quarter we were down by 2 points then the girls kicked in with great defence in the first half. The girls kept the defence going in the second half playing a great team game getting home to win by 19 well done to you all for a great team effort.

With the bench short this week we knew that we had to focus and not get into foul trouble and we also knew we were undersized. The Cougars came out strong and fast (13 – 26 up in the 1st quarter)  with them going into the half with a 9 pt lead.  The Flames came out in the third and played a better game plan with stronger defense and team play (which was lacking in the first half) and saw them going into the last with a narrow lead. The boys did a good job to hold off the Cougars and win by 6 pts.

A very disappointing loss today. We did not play well at all here, I hate to use a cliché but one team turned up wanting to win and the other turned up expecting to win. Too many players not wanting to do the hard things that are required to grind out a win, we need to learn that things aren’t always going to be easy. When they aren’t we need to adjust and lift and push through. We have a lot of soul searching to do in the next few weeks.

We went in quietly confident of repeating our performance from seven days earlier and claiming the big scalp of Cockburn who were undefeated.

As the game started we executed our offence getting a handful of open looks without conversion and showed hesitance at the offensive end while a couple of defensive breakdowns assisted the Cougars with getting into their flow. At quarter time we trailed by just six but a second quarter collapse with no rhythm at the offensive end caused the lead to balloon to 17pts.

The second half saw much of the same as the second quarter but the most dissapointing factor was our body language and way we conducted ourselves when things got tough - we gave up and lost faith in the system and rules that has been so successful for us to date.

With three weeks until our next game it's going to be a time to test where players are at mentally and that will start with watching the game tape at practise tomorrow where we will identify areas and aspects of eachothers game which wasnt acceptable for the standards we have in this team.

Playing in this team isnt something I will let anyone take for granted and the moment you stop working is the time every opponent exceeds what you can give no matter how talented you are. Attitude speaks volumes!

Again without their Commander and Cheif Ryan Jeffrey, the boys looked lost and without leadership as they took on the undefeated Cougars team. From the opening tip off the score broke out to 13-23. The boys staged the first of two comebacks when they outscored Cockburn in the second quarter to bring it back to within 1 point.

However after the break the Flames could only manage 7 points as cockburn took the lead out to 20. Winning the final term 16 to 10 helped the boys win back some respect, though the game was long lost with our usual top performers having uncharacteristic off games.

The boys must now look to put these losses behind us as we move forward and start winning some games. The class of Cockburn, minus the bizarre full court press with 20 seconds to go when the game was over, set the bar of were we must get to as a team should we look to win this season. And the honest truth is I know we are capable of being much better.
