Flames State Connection
Samuelson, a member of the Flames Under 16 WABL side has been named as captain of the WA Metro squad following his blistering form in the junior WA domestic competition for Rockingham. To date Samuelson is averaging a league best 24.8pts per game, which has included three 30 point hauls in just eight games to date.
Speaking on the talented junior Rockingham Basketball Development Officer and Under 16 WABL Coach Ryan Rogers said “Beau is a tireless worker and never settles for second best. It is no secret that he wants to be the best and this is one player who will leave no stone unturned in working towards his future goals.”
While Samuelson will run up and down the hardwood in Tasmania another familiar face to the Rockingham faithful Mark Clayden will be responsible for making the big calls as Head Coach of the team.
While Clayden led the U/16 WA Metro program to a 12th place finish at the 2008 Nationals in Kalamunda, he believes this years team is the most talented junior squad he has assembled and a medal is very much in his plans.
So for Rockingham Basketball a coach and captain connection is evidence that the Flames are a rising brand in WA basketball circles.
