Popularity of youth clinics shows basketball still a grassroots force

WHILE the game at the highest level is trying to re-establish itself as a force in this country, grassroots basketball is as strong as ever, judging by the turnout at the Joondalup Basketball Stadium on Wednesday.

The stadium came alive as young basketballers of the future took part in the Wanneroo Basketball Association’s under-10 development program.

It was the first of five free afternoon sessions where girls and boys (born in 2000, 2001 and 2002) are taken through the basic skills of the game in a fun environment.

Children who wish to take part in the four remaining sessions can do so on August 5, 12, 19 and 26.

Each session starts at 3.45pm and runs for about 75 minutes.
