Nine off to represent WA

NINE primary school students from the northern suburbs have been selected to represent WA at the National School Sports Basketball Tournament to be held in Newcastle from August 8 to 14.

Karley Gage (Marangaroo), Danica Arnold (Mullaloo) and Hanna Finis (Hocking) from Stirling Senators will play for the WA girls 12s side.

Fellow Stirling Senators Lucas Oates (Carramar), Joel Connolly (Darch) and Jayden Coburn (Marangaroo) will join Wanneroo Wolves players Jayson McKenna (Beldon), Bryce Kenny (Mindarie) and Travis Stanghellini (Woodvale) in the WA 12s boys team.

Since winning selection for the State teams at trials in May, the kids have been training and playing games to gain experience and develop teamwork skills.

Kylie Finis, whose daughter Hanna will play for the girls’ side, said all of the kids were excited and looking forward to working hard and having fun at the tournament.

“The whole idea is getting children active and participating in sport,” she said.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
