Castlemaine & District Junior Football League
Interleague Success for CDJFL Under 13 Footballers
The Castlemaine District Under 13 Interleague football team had a come from behind win in its annual clash with Kyneton last Saturday, 36 points to 30. The effort put in by the team was particularly pleasing for the coaching staff as the boys were playing against a bigger and older Under 13.5 team.
“We set a game plan for the conditions. We are delighted with how the boys implemented it. The conditions were very difficult, with a strong wind down the ground.”
“We thought that if the boys could stick with it, we could come over the top in the last quarter. The running through the middle and backing up in defense was a highlight. The defensive effort in both the 3rd and 4th quarters was particularly pleasing.”
“While we will always take a win over our southern rivals, what was really pleasing was how the boys listened and responded. It was a great team effort. We are really looking forward to continue working with the boys at training” said Michael Blake, Head Coach.
A group of about 30 boys have been training with the squad over the last month. A team will be selected to also travel to Swan Hill on the 3rd July to participate in the Central Murray JFNL Graincorp Interleague Carnival where they will take on teams from Goulburn Campaspe, Bendigo, Shepparton and Central Murray.
