Season 1986
In the Under 15's
Mildura
won its fourth
premiership, second in a row, when it defeated Irymple,
11.16 (82) to 4.5 (29)
Favorites Mildura looked anything but until half way through the
second quarter when they posted their first goal of the day.
Goals in quick succession saw the Demons leading by 13 points
at the long change. The expected Swallow charge in the third
quarter did not eventuate, but a four goal onslaught by the Demons
permitted earlier use of than expected of the Demon apprentices.
despite the sizeable deficit the Swallow lads did not shirk the issue
and kept trying to the final siren.

The Under 13 premiership was won by
Imperials,
its seventh,
defeating Mildura, 5.8 (38) to 4.5 (29).
This game provided junior football fans with an excellent spectacle
footballwise, and a great tactical battle between the benches as Demons
and Imps both jockeyed for the run home.
Imps made good use of their first chance withe breeze, and in this
quarter kicked four of their five goals. Milfura answered in the
second term to be five points down at half time. Dogged defence by
the Demons did not allow Imps a goal with their second chance with the
breeze, and many thought the deficit of only eight points was a
gettable target for the Demons at three quarter time.
At the seven minute mark Imp's lead was lessened to two points.
However, it was the signal for Hynes Medallist Matthew Croft
to further exert his already dominant influence on the game with
a telling goal against the gale. What seemed like a Demon
Victory at three quarter time was snatched from them by a more
determined team effort by the Imp's lads.
