Futsal in S.A.

Futsal is an integral part of skills training and player development and increases player’s speed of thought and movement.

Futsal can be played by children as young as five years old and is a major factor in developing players in countries like Brazil which recommend young players to continue with futsal as long as possible.

FFSA Futsal Director of Coaching and ex-Adelaide United player Cristiano dos Santos Rodrigues operates 4 regional academies in the Hills, North, East, South and West of Adelaide.

  • Adelaide Hills trains at St Michael’s Lutheran Primary School at Hahndorf from 5-7pm and has a U10 and U12 squad.
  • North trains at Parafield Gardens Recreation Centre and has a U12 and U15 squad.
  • West trains at The Parks Recreation Centre and has U9, U12’s and U14s squad.
  • South is based at Ascot Park Primary School and has an U12/13

Development programs also occur at various primary schools including Ascot Park PS and Hallet Cove R-12.

School clinics are available and can be booked by contacting the FFSA Game Development department.

Futsal State Team Process Confirmed

Following on from Football Federation SA (FFSA) confirmation that all South Australian Futsal State teams will be administered, coordinated and managed by the FFSA, we are pleased to advise that the Country Futsal State Identification Championships will be held in July 10th in Port Augusta as well as the State Futsal Identification Championships in October 8-9th  In Adelaide at The gardens Recreation Centre.

Futsal has been identified by Football Federation Australia (FFA) and FFSA as a priority for the development of players and a major contributor to the future participation growth in Football nationally and within the state of South Australia.

Futsal is a product that can cater for players wishing to develop their skills and players who wish to compete at a high level or recreational level within the State.

The futsal training squads will consist of 12 players per age group (Boys: U12 Development,U12, U13, U14, U14 (Regional) , U15, U16, U19 and Girls: U13, U15, U17) with these squads selected from all affiliated competitions and in particular both the Country and State Championships. The final selection of the State Teams are to be made mid November to then compete in the Football Federation Australia National Futsal Championships in January 2017 in Sydney.

The State Futsal Director of coaching, Cristiano Dos Santos will head the process.

Further information relating to nominations and registrations for the Country Futsal State Identification Championships and State Futsal Identification Champions will be provided shortly.

In addition, a local futsal competition lead by FFSA will commence from October 2016 at The Parks Recreation Centre To be held weekly on Saturdays, the competitions will run for boys and girls.

Coaching Courses

FFSA would like to confirm the AFC Futsal Level one Coaching course in Adelaide at Underdale High School.
