Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

What competitions are being run this year?

  • Juniors - a mixed compeition for players aged 5-14.  It is planned for this competition to comprised 4 aged based divisions:
    • 5-7 years
    • 8-9 years
    • 10-11 years
    • 12-14 years
  • Senior Men- players aged 15 plus.  This competition will be comprised of a number of divisions based on the number of teams.
  • Senior Women - players aged 15 plus.  This competition will be comprised of a number of divisions based on the number of teams.

Registration - Individual and Team

  • Each individual player must register and PAY on-line via MyFootballClub.
  • All teams must complete a Team Registration Form to identify who is in which team.  The team must also nominate a Team Manager to be the first point of contact in the event of cancellations, wet weather, changes to the draw etc

Which age group do I play?

  • A players age group is determined by their age on 31 December 2015.  For example if born in 2002, player will be eligible to play in the Under 13's Competition.
  • Minimum age is 5 on 31 December 2015.

 Where are the games played at? - 

  • All games are played weekly at the Church Road Soccer Fields in Moss Vale. 

What are game times?

  • Junior games are played Wednesday afternoon at 5.00pm, 5.45pm or 6.30pm.
  • Senior games are played Monday nights from 5.45pm, 6.30pm, 7.15pm, 8.00pm and 8.45pm (only of required).

What will the competitions commence?

  • Juniors - Wednesday 14 October
  • Seniors - Monday 2 November

 How many games are played?

  • Juniors - There will be 10 playing weeks for all divisions, finishing on 16 December.  
  • Seniors - 14 playing weeks plus 2 weeks of finals on 29 February & 7 March.
    (14 March is spare to accomodate rain affected finals matches.)

Are there breaks?

  • Seniors - There will be NO games on 28 December, 4 January or 25 January. 

Forfeited games?

  • Every effort should be made by teams to have enough players each week
  • In the event that a team cannot field the minimum number of players, they may forfeit.
  • 3 competition points will be awarded to the opposing team.  
  • The forfeiting team will lose 3 points and be penalised 3 goals.

Wet weather?

  • In the event of wet weather, every effort is made to contact the nominated Team Manager.  Managers should be the first point of contact for players.  MVSC will also provide information on the website homepage and on the Facebook page.

 How many players can register in a team?

  • Juniors 5-7 years - minimum of 4 players and a maximum of 6 players per team
  • Juniors 8-14 years- minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 9 players per team
  • Seniors - minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 11

 Can a team borrow players? 

  • Juniors
    • Players cannot be borrowed from a higher age group and must be identified and written on the team sheet. 
    • Juniors 5-7 years can borrow 2 eligible players to make a total of 4 players available to play the match.
    • Juniors 8-14 years can borrow 2 eligible players to make a total of 6 players available to play the match.
  • Seniors
    • The minimum number of players allowed to commence a match is four.  These 4 players must be registered players for the team.
    • Teams are then able to borrow up to 2 eligible players to have a total of 6 players if they are short.
    • NO substitutes are permitted when a player or players are borrowed.
    • Players can be borrowed from one division higher, the same division or any lower division than the teams division.
    • Borrowed players must be identified and written on the team sheet.
    • If additional team players arrive after the start of a match (ie arrive late) the borrowed player(s) must be interchanged off the field at the earliest opportunity and can then take no further part in the game. 

Substitutes

  • There are unlimited interchanges.  The player coming on must wait until the other player is off the field.
  • A change of goalkeeper (where applicable) is allowed at any time, but only after acknowledgment by the referee.

Footwear

  • Suitable footwear is required to play.  Boots with moulded studs or runners are allowed. Metal cleats or screw-ins will not be allowed.  Players wearing these will be asked to leave the field.

Shin pads

  • Shin pads are compulsory. Players not wearing them will be asked to leave the field.

Uniform/equipment provided

  • Simple t-shirts of the same colour is all that is required for a team strip.  Wher applicable, a distinguishing golkeepers shirt or bib is essential.  Club shirts are acceptable.
  • We ask that teams do not have fluoro orange shirts as this is the colour worn by the referress.
  • Goals/nets will be provided for all games.
  • Each team will be issued with a suitably sized ball at the start of the competition.  It is the responsibility of the "home" team to supply the ball for each game.

Referees

  • Whilst MVSC try to supply referees for all games, each team must nominate a duty referee in the event that there are not enough "pool" referees available.
  • Appointment of duty referees will be included on the draw issued for each weeks games.
  • For juniors it is required that the referee (including duty referees) must be at least  2 years older than the age group playing.

  • Juniors
    • 5-7years
      • 4 v 4
      • 2 x 15 minute halves
      • 5 minute break at half time
    • 8-14 years
      • 6 v 6
      • 2 x 15 minute halves
      • 5 minute break at half time
          
  • Seniors
    • Men's, Women's, Men's Over 35
      • 6 v 6
      • 2 x 20 minute halves
      • 2 minute break at half time
  • Games will not have extra time added for late starting games due to late players/teams, so please ensure your team is ready to start on time

How much does it cost?

If you were a registered player with Football NSW for the Winter 2015 season, your summer soccer registration fees are less as the insurance component is partially covered by your winter registration. Make sure you select the applicable option when you register on My Football Club!
