Development Opportunities & Pathways
Under 12 Skills Program
- 8 regional Centres conducting Skills Days in July each year
- Online Registration and information launch to all associations in late May
- Focus on skill development and enjoyment
- 240 top age athletes (120 boys/120 girls) selected from skills days to attend BVC Under 12 Basketball Jamboree in September
Under 14 Regional Skills Days
- Conducted in 8 regional centres in March each year
- Online Registration and information launch to all associations in January/February
- Focus on skill development and introduction to team concepts
- Approximately 450 athletes selected from the skills days for the BVC Regional Academy Program
Under 14 Regional Academy Program
- Approximately 450 athletes selected to 8 Regional Academies from Skills Days
- Players train with local network coach over a 20 week program
- Two live-in camps conducted between April & September in Regions
- Approximately 100 boys & 100 girls selected from the Academies to attend the Gold Nugget Junior Development Camp in September.
Southern Cross Basketball Challenge (SCC)
Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup (ACJBC)
- U/14 - 2 teams of boys (20 Athletes) & 2 teams of girls (20 Athletes) selected to attend ACJBC fromGold Nugget Camp
- U/14 - 2 teams of boys (20 Athletes) & 2 teams of girls (20 Athletes) selected to attend SCC from Gold Nugget Camp
- U/15 - 2 teams of boys (20 Athletes) & 2 teams of girls (20 Athletes) selected to attend SCC from Gold Nugget Camp
Under 16
- From open tryouts, 20 top age male athletes and 20 top age female athletes are selected for the U16 High Performance Program.
- Top age U16 athletes represent Vic Country at the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup (ACJBC) in January.
- Bottom age U16 athletes who represent Vic Country at the Southern Cross Challenge (SCC) join the High Performance Program following the Gold Nugget camp.
- The U16 Vic Country State Team is selected from U15 and U16 athletes who have attended ACJBC and SCC and are part of BVC High Performance Program.
Under 18
- From open tryouts, 20 top age male athletes and 20 top age female athletes are selected for the U18 High Performance Program.
- Athletes represent Vic Country at the ACJBC
- The U18 Vic Country State Team is selected from athletes who attend the ACJBC
Under 20
- State teams are unified under Victoria, not divided into Country and Metro
