PLAYING UP GUIDELINE – ALL AGE GROUPS

• In the event that a team has 4 or less players they are able to have players from a younger age group play for them to make a team of 5.
• If your team has 5 players you cannot ask an underage player to play up.
• You may not get a younger age player to fill in after the half time mark in the game. The fill-in must take the court before half time.
• If a player knows that they cannot play for a particular reason on any given week, it is the players responsibility to notify their coach ASAP so that the coach knows whether they need to bring a player up or not. Coaches must make their players aware of this at the start of the season.
• If it is known before the night of play that a team will have 4 or less players, then a player from any team in the age group immediately below (they must be registered with YMBA) can fill-in. Coaches and age group managers must try and contact different players each time to fill in, to give a variety of younger age players the opportunity to fill in. Age group managers have contact details for all players in the younger age group.
• If the situation occurs  that players just do not show up on a particular night and a team has less than four players and the team cannot take the court due to insufficient numbers, then they must wait the 10 minutes to see if a player turns up (the opposition gets 2 points per minute due to no show). If no further players show up by 10 minutes and a child from the age group immediately below is there watching (and is registered with YMBA & is able to play), they may be asked to fill in to enable the side to have 4 players.

If the game commences and the fifth player from the original team turns up by half time – then the original team member can take the court and the fill in can no longer take part in the game.

• If a team uses a younger age player(s) to make up to 5 players for their team on the night, the points will still count towards the ladder, as long as the above guidelines have been met.
• TEAMS MAY NOT USE FILL-INS FROM A YOUNGER AGE GROUP FOR ANY FINALS
