Referee Training
FREE REFEREE TRAINING
As part of the Basketball NT Challenge 2013, a free referee training course will be held on Friday 3rd May commencing at 12 noon with an expected finish time of 5pm at the Darwin Basketball Studium, for those who wish to obtain an accredited referee qualification.
This may include players, parents or anyone who has a good knowledge of the basketball rules and has sufficient confidence on the court to be able to officiate on their own.
Training will be provided by skilled, qualified personnel and participants may be given the opportunity to work with a qualified referee during the tournament.
At completion of training, participants will be able to:
Effectively prepare for refereeing at local competition level.
Assess whether a game may proceed safely.
Apply the rules to decisions on playing personnel, equipment, and playing regulations.
Make appropriate decisions on any point not specifically covered by the rules.
Provide explanations of decisions made.
