AFL stars Shaun Burgoyne, Patrick Karnezis and Paul Johnson are coming to Shepparton on Wednesday 16 April for a free holiday program for children of Shepparton’s local multicultural communities.
To be held at Kialla Recreation Reserve the gala event will feature local children in a super clinic style format to provide a fun and friendly participation opportunity.
"As part of our development plan for the region we want to engage the multicultural communities in and around Shepparton" commented AFL Goulburn Murray Region General Manager Martin Gleeson. "This is a great way to introduce the game to those who may have limited or no exposure."
"We will have specky mats, fun games, activities and prizes as well as the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the game’s elite footballers from the AFL."
"Boys and girls from 8 to 15 years of age are encouraged to come along and be involved."
"Our Multicultural Community Ambassadors will also be involved and will be working with community leaders to discuss the event and promote our great game."
The Shepparton Ethnic Council is supporting the event with a free BBQ for all participants, including halal and vegetarian options.
