Following a ground inspection this morning the playing surface at Longwood Recreation Reserve has been deemed to be unsuitable to host the KDFNL Elimination Finals on Sunday 31 August.
The games will now be played at Violet Town with Longwood remaining as the host club.
Both Murchison and Longwood refused to play at the venue last Saturday due to its condition and whilst the ground has improved there are still enough concerns to warrant the venue shift.
"The finals for the League are a major showpiece and there are serious concerns in the ground providing a quality playing surface for all teams on the day" identified KDFNL President Greg Watson.
"Its an unfortunate situation, especially after Longwood volunteers have worked very hard over the last week to undertake remedial work on the surface."
"However, the League needs to consider the needs of the day, the interests of all six competing teams as well as the overall condition to provide a playing surface worthy of a final."
"The positive is that Longwood are still able to host the match and the League acknowledges Violet Town’s willingness to step up and assist with providing the facility."
"Strathbogie Shire has also been involved in discussions on the venue’s progress and their liaison is appreciated in helping to reach a solution to keep the game in the local area."
"The League is confident in Longwood successfully hosting at Violet Town and we can now return the focus to an exciting weekend of games which will determine the final ladder positions in both football and netball."
