Team of the Week Round 6

Congratulations to Nicholas Mearns, whose match winning hat-trick including a dramatic last ditch game winning goal saw him take out the player of the week award for round 5.

GK- Sprios Paradisis- Olympia Warriors

He may have conceded four goals but the score line could have been a lot worse if not for the shot stopping ability of Paradisis. Made a couple of top drawer saves to keep his side in the game in the first half. Encouragingly he looked like his 2015 self again, that so ably deputised for Sean Lewis.

RB- Mattias Toghill- Hobart Zebras

Absolutely revelling in a return to his preferred side of the park and is the form full back of the competition at the moment. He was superb against the Warriors, shutting down absolutely everything that came his way and whipping in a number of dangerous crosses as he combined with Walsh.

CB- Joseph Zupo- Devonport Strikers

Another week, another uncompromising display at the back from the big Canadian. The Lions never got a sniff as he completely blanketed their forwards and constantly stifled their attacking forays that they tried to launch.

CB- Henry Moody- Hobart Zebras

Olympia failed to get a shot on target in the entire game and a lot of that had to do with Henry Moody breaking up their attacking moves before they could develop with a string of interceptions. The big centre half is completely dominant in the air and he reads the game so well.

LB- Tenzing Anderson, Northern Rangers

An eye catching display from the 'Zinger" who capped off a stellar display with a curling free kick that nestled perfectly in the bottom corner of the net to bring his side level. He did everything he could to get his side over the line in the derby and took the points in his duel with the explosive Campbell.

CM- Kobe Kemp, South Hobart

The case for Kemp being the best midfielder in the competition continues to grow as he produced another masterclass against Clarence. He was a metronome on the ball, spraying passes about the pitch and then added a pair of late goals to cap it off.

CM- Harry Thannhauser- Northern Rangers

The "Town House" was back to his best in the derby as he completely ran the show, completing more passes than anyone on the pitch in a best afield display. He controlled the game in the crucial moments and reminded everyone of the immense talent he possesses.

CM- Joel Stone- Devonport Strikers

Stone has found his best form over the past couple of weeks and whilst he still might lack consistency over the whole 90, he provides more than enough moments of brilliance. It was on display against the Lions, playing a hand in multiple goals and scoring an absolute pearler himself

RW- Dwayne Walsh- Hobart Zebras

Another Zebra who is loving his change of position, Walsh was dynamite and his combination with Toghill down the right was devastating. Registered two assists, one of which to Huigsloot was the result of a storming run to beat 3 players and he came close to scoring himself when he hit the post.

LW- Isaac Degetto- Launceston City

Back to back appearances from the young forward who is really starting to make his mark on the league. He took his goal wonderfully and looked a constant threat for his side. He is incredibly illusive and seems to constantly find a way in behind defensive lines.

ST- Brayden Mann- Devonport Strikers

Won a penalty and duly converted it to get his side rolling before adding a second with a superb turn and cracking finish from just inside the area. Could have had more if not for the interventions of Grace and his pressing forced a number of a turnovers. The gun striker is at the top of his game at the moment.
