Jonna Ferris introduction and visit

On Monday 17th Nov, the first day meeting has been booked with the federation and Jo for the review of her program within Tarawa to secure date and timing prior to start the visit and followed by a quick review of plans and budget with Hoop for Health Program right before Wednesday 18th Nov.

There were members from the federation/executives attended the meeting including the president Mr Teiwaki Tekanene, Bwere Tione Secretary, NBDO, representative from NOC Mr Rota Onorio and together with Mr Kautu Temakei Head Coach who were confirming the program for Jo’s visit and the same time sharing ideas with the federation and Jonna with Hoop for Health. The meeting takes 3 hours commencing from 2:30pm to 5:30pm discussed about urgencies and relevant focus for the main targeted areas in Kiribati for Hoop for Health program. According to the arrangement organised by the federation and together with the hotel (TBH) for the visit, for Kiribati real tradition or cultural thing that for new people steps onto the country need to taste local (drink) to have a feast afterward as to bless the first day of arrival. Straight after the meeting as programmed, KBF and NOC are gathered to a formal dinner welcoming Mrs Jonna Ferris. The federation and other involved partners are fortunate to have Mrs Jonna Ferris in sharing ideas and knowledge especially trying to emerge good relationship and partnership between Hoop for Health within different organisations.
Program
According to a program, there are certain areas or targeted organisations Jo needs to share with them as to make a transparent communication between the federation and organisations such as Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, NOC, Ministry of Women Youth and Social Affairs and Australian High Commissioner. Depend on which or what beneficials are or commitment and feedback from each of organisation takes will make a different to what the FIBA Oceania and Kiribati Basketball federation expect from their support.
