Local manufacturing giants FMF has secured the naming rights of the revived Fiji Hockey Federation State of Origin tournament.
The two-day tournament begins today and FMF answered the prayers of hockey stakeholders in the country with their sponsorship bid.
FHF development officer Tai Smith said finance was the biggest drawback the sport faced in the country.
She said the announcement would thrill the 11 participating teams competing in a tournament which was last played about 10 years ago.
"FMF are one of the biggest supporters of sports in the country and FHF is glad to be under their wing," Smith said.
Ba has entered two men's teams for the tournament while Nadi has entered two men's and two women's teams. Hosts Lautoka and Suva have both entered a men's and women's team and Lami will field a men's team.
Smith said eight players from Suva would boost Lautoka's chances in the tournament while some players from Levuka would play for Suva.
The tournament will be played at the Nadovu Park Hockey Courts in Lautoka.
