Palmerston led 17-7 at half time and pushed that out to 30-17 at the end of three quarters. Lightning was led by Deearne Lee and Sarah Carbone who hit 7 points each.

Uni Rebels v Tracy Village Jets

The Tracy Village Jets notched up another win, their 18th in a row, against the Uni Rebels. The Bombers won the match 69-47 with Kylie Duggan once again leading by example. The in-form Duggan (14.14ppg) hit 16 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, put out 10 assists and had 4 steals. Three others hit double figures: Demi Cubillo 14, Keisha Tinley & Tahnee Maxwell 12 each. Eagles v Ansett

The Eagles thumped a short-handed Ansett side 80-29 to move into a tie for third place on the ladder. The Blues were missing, through injury or studies, most of their starting five and the Eagles took advantage of the opportunity to run riot. Michelle Friel (21ppg) hit a league high 40 points along with 12 steals for the Birds with ample backup from Barbara Teakle (10pts 14rebs) and Lillian Williams (10pts 10rebs). Three players from the Blues hit 8 points apiece: Julia Woods, Alexis Leeder and Anne Ligteringen.

League Men – Palmerston v Eagles

The Eagles eventually pulled away from Palmerston to register a 95-75 win, their eighth of the season, to remain in sole possession of first place on the ladder. The win sets up another confrontation with the Tracy Village Jets next week in a battle of the top two teams in the competition. The Eagles held a slight 65-58 lead at the end of three quarters of play despite the spirited play from Palmerston’s Aaron Simpson (25) and Jesse Bell (23) who combined for 48 points between them to keep Palmerston in the contest. But the last quarter was all Eagles as they put together a 30-17 run that blew Palmerston off the court. Shondale Robinson (36.6ppg) again racked up a 40+ game, hitting 42 with support from Joseph Johnson (21) and Jesse Williams-Hook (11). Robbie Wilson from Palmerston also hit double figures with 13.

Tracy Village Jets v Uni Rebels

Tracy Village kept hot on the heels of league leaders Eagles with a solid 76-53 effort against the Uni Rebels who are now in danger of slipping out of the final four unless they can string together some victories in the coming weeks. Jett Sukcharoen led the Bombers with 18 points followed by 12 from Jayden Niven-Trewin and 10 from Alex Weetra (who also had 11rebs & 4 assists). The Jets took an early 17-12 first quarter lead and steadily built up the margin throughout the contest. Rebel newcomer Michael Opara hit a team high 15 with Aldrin Moday (11) and Jermain Lattimore (10) adding to the total.

Lightning v Razzle

The Razzle recorded only their second win of the competition against the fading Lightning, 72-46. Five players led the attack with Robert Oliver spearheading the offensive with 16 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. James Panton & Eric Klenke chipped in with 12 points each and Brendan Dell & Ben Cowcher added 11 each as the green and gold made life miserable for the Lightning who are now just 2-9 since last season’s playoff losses. A huge 24-8 third quarter by Razzle put the game out of reach of Lightning. Cameron Bailey led the Lightning with 13 with Chris Charman adding 10. Razzle hit 40% from the field to 23 for Lightning and dominated the boards 54-33.
