Results from DBA League Grand Finals played on Saturday the 6th of December.

Womens League – The Tracy Village Jets defeated the Eagles 72-63 for their sixth straight championship win over the past three years. Tanis Dhu set up the win with her hustle, encouragement and drive from the tipoff. Dhu proved to be the inspiration for the Jets as they powered ahead in the first quarter for a 20-14 lead. By half time it was 45-29 and it looked like a route was in the making, but after the break the Eagles flew back into contention with a 17-14 run the left the Birds only 13 points adrift with a quarter to play. The Eagles continued to make inroads during the last quarter, but the Jets had too many eager hands ready to score and they answered the Eagle challenge with points on the scoreboard. Dhu lead the Jets with 20 points, Sam Rioli put up 14 points and Abby Cubillo hit 13. Eagle Michelle Friel led all scorers with 21 and team mates Kimberly Brown had 18 and Trish Graham hit 10.

MVP for the game was Eagle Michelle Friel.

Mens League – The Uni Rebels pulled off a miraculous Houdini act to nip Ansett 77-73 after trailing for most of the second half up until there were about 30 seconds left to play. Tim Morris (26) and John King (24) put together 50 points between them, but it took a huge three pointer from Jake Kirby to put the Rebels into the lead with 18 seconds left to play. Ansett still had a chance to take home the trophy, but the shots that were falling earlier stopped and the Rebels took full advantage of the situation to win their second championship of the season. The Rebels had charged out to a 24-18 first quarter lead before the Blues came flying back to take a 42-37 halftime lead. Donte Nicholas put on a show with some thunderous slam dunks and Daniel Florance was continually driving to the hoop for points and chances at the free throw line, but it all came to nought in the last three minutes when the Blues seemed to lose their way. Nicholas put up 29 points, Florance 19 and Matt Hunt hit 15.

MVP for the game was Uni Rebel Tim Morris
