I once played lawn bowls with a few friends. One fell over and broke his wrist. True !! Therefore after much thought over the last week, I think bowls is a bit dangerous to be voted the best sport in Australia.

Look, any sport that continually churns out such names as Steve Glasson and the Michael Jordan of Bowls Kelvin Kerko is right up there in my books.

I would have to be in agreeance here PB.
Bowls is a team sport that most people stereotype for no reason.
The game has changed and become the competitive sport to take up after you're done with playing footy/cricket etc..
Done believe me ??? Come and have a roll with us sometime.

There aren't many sports where you can play 4s, triples, pairs and singles, not only against other club members in club championships and the chance to play other clubs' members in the same formats in group championships but to have a regular pennant, money tournaments, group, state and national opportunities to represent and then there are the various ways the game can be played. NOTHING in sport comes close to diversity within the one sport.
And as Rushy says, if you think it is a game for old codgers, you are highly illinformed, you better check out the Clayton or Melbourne bowling club sides, a few haven't even started shaving yet, but these same kids could take a Glasso and REALLY make him earn it...

Bowls is so awesome!!
Every state has their own junior team and those squads are always expanding. The junior National Championships are coming up so if you want to see young people who love the sport play against other states go down and watch.
People who say the sports for old people are only jealous that they don't play.
