2013 Welfare and Education Plans

Please see below a summary of the plans for 2013.

1.       Good Sports Program – while this not a new program we will be reinvigorating the focus for all Clubs to either join Good Sports via the Good Sports website or to progress toward Level 3 within the program. As discussed, for all clubs who join Good Sports or are already part of the Good Sports program, the game will cover the cost for 2 people to be RSA trained if this training is completed before the end of March 2013.

2.       The Safe Party Presentation For Clubs – I have attached the expression of interest form for distribution to all clubs re the training on the Safe Party for clubs with players aged 14 – 16 years. This is a new approach to including the broader group of players / parents in the education of; alcohol, illicit drugs, assault, sexual assault, all in the party environment that is very often experienced by youth and their parents.

The aim of this approach is to empower club people to provide education for their clubs players in the 14 to 16 age group. Volunteers from  interested clubs will participate in a 1 .5 hour training session in small clusters, and then be given the DVD resource along with presenters notes and a certificate. There will be no cost for club people to do this training.

3.       Representative Players – 16 and 18 years – as in previous years, these two age groups will participate if the Illicit Drugs In Sport Program which will include presentations on the following;

16 years – Safe Party, illicit drugs, assault, social media and ASADA drug testing.
18 years – Illicit drugs, alcohol, safe driving, respect, and ASADA drug testing.

Comment Guidelines: The SportingPulse Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
