Badminton part of Indonesia Friendship Golf day
Badminton was well represented at the Indonesia Cup Friendship Golf Tournament held at the Wainuiomata Golf Club on Friday, 8 February.
Badminton New Zealand was represented by Executive Director, Peter Dunne and Events Manager, Laura Menzies and the Wellington Badminton Association by Junior Development Officer, Vaiola Vaeau.
Like many international embassies the Indonesian Embassy is located in central Wellington and Badminton New Zealand is looking to establish partnerships with the Asian Embassies in particular. Participation in Friday's tournament was an ideal opportunity to continue the relationship established in 2007.
The Wellington Badminton Association is also keen to develop the relationships and planning is underway to stage a local version of the Thomas & Uber Cups across the various ethnic groups in Wellington.
Laura Menzies, a non golfer, was the most successful of the badminton golfers winning a prize for most stableford points for ladies on the 1st nine.
