The Massey High School boys team, seeded 3rd in the NZ Police National Secondary Schools Finals being played in Wellington were pushed all the way again in their tie this morning only defeating Palmerston North Boys High on a count back of points after matches and games were all square

The seedings at the NZ Police National Secondary Schools National Finals were proved wrong on the first day of play in Wellington in the boys competition with the third seeds Massey High being pushed to the wire by 10th seeds Rongotai College along with the 11th and 12th seeded teams registering wins against higher ranked opposition

There are 12 girls and 12 boys teams playing in the finals, these teams have qualified for the national finals through regional competitions and zone finals. The country is broken into 8 zones.

2009 NZ Secondary Schools Update
There are some changes to the NZ Secondary Schools Competition happening over the next few years. The most significant change for 2009 is the change in date to "Tournament Week" - 3-6 September
