The Maitland Hockey Association provides organised hockey for boys and girls from age 5 to 16, and senior women. The association competes annually at womens Veterans championships, and has also competed at various boys and girls junior age groups at both regional and state level. Since 2005 the Association has also undertaken Indoor Hockey as a summertime sport, and hosted the U13 Boys and Girls state championships in 2006, and the U15 Boys and Girls event in 2007 with great success. The past 2 years has also seen the creation of a junior club carnival, with teams competing from all over the Hunter and down to Sydney.

Upto the end of the 2007 season, all matches were played on natural grass at Maitland Park, but thanks to the assistance of the Maitland Council and a lot of hard work by Association members and volunteers, a new Tigerturf wet/dry surface has been constructed, and from 2008 will see all competition matches moved to the new surface. The surface will help develop the sport locally by providing first class playing and training facilities for association members, and will help strengthen the overall quality of the competition.
