Sunday 15th March 2009– U15, U17 & U19 at the Sportsdrome, Rotorua

TOURNAMENT RULES

 

The official FIBA Rulebook as adopted by Basketball New Zealand will be in use throughout the Carnival, with the following inclusions and changes:


1. Teams will be guaranteed three games with four teams playing in a round robin.
2. Game Balls are to be supplied by the participating teams. All games to be played with a leather or leather composite size 6 basketball (all girls, U11 & U13 boys), and size 7 for U15, 17 & U19 boys.
3. Team uniforms, must be universal across the team as per FiBA rules
4. T-shirts are not to be worn under uniforms unless a medical certificate can be produced to tournament officials prior to the commencement of the player’s first match.
5. In case of uniform clash, Team A on the scoresheet will be required to wear light tops & Team B to wear dark tops.
6. Participants must wear suitable footwear while participating in the tournament.
7. The SPARC Fair Play Charter is in use.
8. Games will consist of 4 x 12 minutes running clock. The break between each quarter will be 1 minute. There will be 3 minutes for half time. No time outs in the last 3 minutes of 4th quarter.
9. In the event of tied scores, a further period will be played until a winner is determined by the first team to score in the extra period.
10. All U11, U13 & U15 defense is to be man to man, no zoning inside the three point half circle. If any Coach has concerns that a team is not playing man to man defense he or she is to approach the floor controller’s bench. U17 & U19 may play zone.
11. Each team is required to have a competent scorer to score each of their own matches.
12. Each team is required to supply a competent referee to officiate. Teams unable to supply a referee have the opportunity to pay an extra fee of $30 and a referee will be provided.
13. Entries close 3rd March 2009. Once we have four teams per grade with fees, then the entries will be deemed closed. You will be informed immediately of this.
14. Draw will be sent out by 7th March, 2009. We would appreciate email addresses or fax numbers for draws to be sent out. Teams withdrawing, after the draw has been published will not have their Entry fee refunded.
15. Spot prizes, plus awards and prizes will be provided for the winners and runners-up in each grade.
