TROBERS AIMING FOR MASTERS SUCCESS

LTU Intervarsity legends of yesteryear will be gathering in Adelaide this October (9th-15th)in a bid to continue La Trobe's great tradition of success. Players who spent their uni years winning Intervarsity Championships for La Trobe will match up against the best of the vets from the rest of Australia in this years Australian Masters Games.

This year's squads feature players who have been synonymous with the red, black and white for many years. Past Blues Awards winners such as Dave Davies, Allan Calder and Ivars Kepitis (Kep) will team up with some past Outstanding Service Award recipients in Kim DiMarzio and Allan Weir against the best over 40's from around Australia.

La Trobe Uni has had some significant success at the Masters level in the past. LTU won the 45+ section at the 2001 Australian Masters Games after beating a star studded squad that included ex-Olympian Ian Davies in the semi final. In 2002, the World Masters Games were held in Melbourne and in true Trober fashion the boys did themselves proud. The 40+ side won bronze while the 45+ side finished a very creditable 4th. After a hard fought 5th placing in the 2003 games, the Eagles are determined to get back into the winners circle again.
