LTU 39 V UNSW 44
A very tough first round match up saw the girls go down to UNSW 44-39. The 2 danger areas for the team was always going to be fatigue and foul trouble and against UNSW, foul trouble reared it's ugly head.
With Jodie Datson picking up 3 first quarter fouls, Tess Feery had to go head to head with UNSW gun, Shelley Bates. To her credit, Tess held the UNSW dynamo scoreless for the match. Brooke McKay battled hard inside and Jodie held on until the very end before fouling out. However the depth of UNSW eventually got them the win.

GAME 2 - 12.45 pm Monday 26/9/05
LTU 41 V UQ 23
In a make or break game to decide who would progress to the second round, the LTU girls came out firing. The top Queensland seeds didn't know what hit them as Brooke McKay tore them apart inside and Datson and Ferry dismantled the UQ backcourt. Foul trouble was again the main obstacle except this time the girls were more controlled. Datson owes a slab for the first tech of the tournament.

MENS RESULTS
GAME 1 - 12.45 pm Monday 26/9/05
LTU 53 V NCLE 63
The men's first match up was against Newcastle, a team that featured perennial Green and Gold members and former Hunter Pirates, Matt McGovern and Adam Melmeth. The game went score for score in the first 3 quarters and Newcastle held a small lead going into the 4th. Dave Goddfrey unleashed a 3 point barrage that matched McGovern's 3 point onslaught and the boys were a big chance for an upset. However, the 4th quarter saw Melmeth step up for Newcastle and the Trobers went down 63-53.

GAME 1 - 3.15pm Monday 26/9/05
LTU 56 V FU 40
Eager to show FU that they didn't deserve the 2nd Southern seed, La Trobe blew the game out early and never looked back. An excellent all round team effort kept LTU in the hunt to progress to the next round with a comfortable 56-40 win.
