Swinburne came to the tournament on a wildcard and it was obvious that they had struggled to get a team togther. The Trobers, although tired, made sure of the result early and thus made sure that they would progress to the second round. Godfrey continued with the hot hand and McMaster was his usual classy self.

LTU 42 v Notre Dame 51
Notre Dame were the top WA seed and the top seed in the pool, however a win for La Trobe would improve their chances in the second round. Unfortunately LTU shot themselves in the foot by not converting a basket until the last 3 minutes of the first quarter. It was just 1 of those days when nothing would drop. Eventually, the boys found the basket but were playing catch up for the rest of the game and went down 51-42. On the positive side, the men are through to the repechage round and still in the hunt for the bling!
