MULLET SKIPS TOWN ........ TO IRELAND!!!!!!

Another LTU champion is leaving sunny Victoria for greener pastures, in this case pastures full of clover!

Luke Egan jumped on a plane bound for the Irish Superleague on Tuesday (8/11/05) to suit up for the ..... wait for it .... Abrakababra Tigers! After doing some research on the Tigers, I can safely say that they are also known as Taree, Luke O'Hea (Nunawading and Sherbrooke ABA) plays for them as a local (Euro passport), only one person in the team is listed as a forward (and he's a US import possibly the one that Luke is replacing) and no one is listed as a centre. The team has an average height of 6'2 and Luke does have a fondness for the little people (as shown in the photo) so t'would appear appropriate to maybe rename the team, the Leprechauns!

As many Trobers would be aware, Mullet has been a great contributor to LTU Basketball over the years. Besides leading the team to several SUG gold medals, Luke led the team within a whisker of National glory at the 2000 AUG's against the stacked Ballarat side. Luke has been a Green and Gold selection at every AUG's he has played in and he was also awarded a Blues Award for outstanding performance in 2000.

Although he plays at the ABA level, Luke still represents La Trobe Uni at various tournaments and in domestic competitions. Luke also put together the Reservoir Dogs team that competes at La Trobe Uni in the Men's Championship competition.

The Irish Superleague has already started and 4 games are already down so it would appear that the Tigers are looking for an instant impact player. Luke has never been shy around a basketball so one would expect him to slot right in and produce immediately.

Best of luck Lukey from all your fellow Trobers.
