MEN'S C'SHIP WEEK 10 PRIME TIME AT THE RIGHT TIME

GAME OF THE WEEK

PRIME TIME 94 d AND 1 93

Not just the game of the week, but game of the season. Entering this match, And 1 have had a couple of close matches but turned it on when they needed to. Last night, Prime Time forced the ladder leaders to pull out all their guns and they came up short.

In what was a very physical encounter, the BTO (Big Time Operator) - Josh Croall gained the mental edge over bigger opponent, Rob Chapelle and came out just in front. Tyrone Lake and Ben Campbell had a fantastic battle inside and on the perimieter. Pete Leimonitis and Mick Petridis went at each other like a couple of bulldogs. Benny Tairi took it to Sedale Threatt in a best on court performance that had the crowd oooooing and ahhhhhing.

The game was a see saw affair all the way through and both teams gave no quarter. With less than 30 seconds to go, Prime Time Held a 1 point lead only to have Lake knock down a big 3. Ethan Pitcher and Pete Leimonitis gained a 2 point advantage with a field goal each. After an And 1 miss, Tairi then went to the line and made both shots for a 4 point lead. Mr Automatic, Mick Petridis then hit a 3 to give And 1 a sniff with 10 seconds left on the clock. With 6 on the clock Pitcher went to the line and missed both shots only to have Tairi grab the rebound and hold the ball for the win.

RESERVOIR DOGS 73 d RICK JAMES B*ITCHES 51

Rick James needed to win to make the playoffs but it just wasn't to be. Despite solid performances from Oliver and DiMarzio and the sweet outside touch from a hobbling Dean Sutton, they were no match for the scoring machine that are the Resrvoir Dogs.

Once again, John Lister's eye was in and he proved to be unstoppable. Jeremy Datson was all over the court picking off passes and pushing the ball up the court for scores.

The Dogs now finish top of Pool B and Rick James disappears from the finals picture.

DV OF OLD 109 d INTER BW 63

DV did what they needed to do and earned themselves a finals berth with a convincing win over Inter BW. The Big 3 (A Moore, Straw, Cullinan) were once again unstoppable, particularly Danny Cullinan who had 38 and with that the league scoring title.

Inter BW looked a little lost against theie superior opponents but will be better of for the experience.

WARD 67 d YA MUM 34

One has to give credit to the Ya Mum boys. They came into the comp not knowing what to expect and were soundly beaten in every game yet they kept coming back. The story was no different last night as they matched up against Ward.

Not only did Ward feature Dobbo and tall timber, Cannanball and Sturrock. They also unleashed for the first time in the season, The Don. That's right, the man who busted moves all over dance floors and basketball courts at the Uni Games, graced the LTU courts with his prescence. He didn't disappoint.

In what was the most amazing play never to be caught on tape, Don drove to the basket, put up the shot while being fouled, had the ball blocked back into his head which then bounced off his head into the basket. Points good, and 1!

Next week:

FINALS TIME
1st from each pool crossover and play 2nd from the opposite pool in a knockout game to decide who will play in the Grand Final a week later.
