RESERVOIR DOGS 72 d DV OF OLD 58
In a match where DV of Old were expected to dominate the boards, the Reservoir Dogs took the easiest option and set about hitting all their shots. Steven and Datson pushed the ball up the floor and finished contested lay ups. Lister and Weston couldn't miss and when there was a rebound up for grabs, Pete Brack was there to clean up the glass (wood in this case).
DV, on the other hand, couldn't buy a basket. Wokka Straw's shots rimmed out. Adam Moore looked visibly distressed with a sore shoulder and Dan Cullinan just couldn't establish himself inside. The game could be summed up in one passage of play where DC had the ball under the basket and put up a shot only to have Brack block the shot. Cullinan got the ball back 3 more times only to have Brack deny him each time. From then on Brack was inside Danny's head and there was no going back.
Adding insult to injury was Jeremy Datson's left handed 3 pointer to deliver the knock out punch to DV. Just 1 week earlier Datson had teamed up with DV's Adam Moore and Dan Cullinan (and Reservoir Dogs Chippa Weston)to represent La Trobe at the Albury Tournament. The same knock out punch was used to break the back of all LTU opponents. Quoted Cullinan, "Now I know how demoralising that is!
