Welcome all to the first edition of Captain Croally's Corner - a place where all the fans can read up on, and gain some insight into the intimate goings on of your Big V La Trobe University Eagles Men's Team. This exciting weekly column is going to include round highlights, Q & A's with past and current players, select opponents and occasionally even partners or family members of some players.

Being captain and `leader of men' brings on a certain amount of responsibility. In saying this, I find it my job to answer any questions that the fans may need answers to... weather it be a question related to any of the team members or your own personal problems that require an outside opinion - I am here to help! A "Joke of the Week" as well as "Email of the Week" will also be featured in this column. Round 1 Round Up - PETER PERFECT!!

Under the management and guidance of Forbsey, this year La Trobe Uni has changed things up a little and amongst many improvements (the biggest being Sarge's decision to appoint myself as Captain to lead his men), we have made a new home for ourselves at Darebin Basketball Stadium. The court looked great, and with an impressive turn out by the fans, season 2006 is set to rock!! Another of the more notable improvements are the teams new uniforms and with thanks to `And 1' the boys can now keep it gangsta in style!

With the retirements of club stalwarts Neill "Humphrey" McCormack and Dave "Cannonball" Cannon, and the departure of several others the boys have welcomed some new comers into the Trober family. Big Nev, Tim, C-moz, Bryn, Wayne, Tony and Pablo are all handy additions to the talented team who have made solid contributions to the team already this season!!

Round one of season 2006 kicked off on Saturday night with a devastating win over league rookies Keysborough (Latrobe 91 def Keysborough 57). Led by yours truly, the boys came out firing, scoring 31 points in the first quarter and holding Keysborough to just 5. Peter Leimonitis was unstoppable with 18 points in opening quarter and finishing up with a whopping 38 and 13 rebounds and the new boys quickly realised why we put up with all of Pete's angry outbursts during the season. Devin Sturdy also lit up the scoreboard with an inspiring 21 points.

At the after match function at Menzie's College Bar the new LTU boys quickly realised that basketball is not the only thing the LTU boys are good at. The boys took advantage of the cheap drinks on offer in preparation for next weeks road trip to Horsham which coincides with Forbesy's 30th Birthday!

Round 2 will see the boys travel to Horsham to take on the Hornets and ex Trober Bracky. So be sure to tune in next week, as there are sure to be some amusing tales!!
