STURROCK SETS LTU SCORING RECORD

New recruit, Tim Sturrock, set a La Trobe University Big V record with an astounding 47 points against Western Port Steelers on the weekend. Touted as a major key in LTU's tilt at the title at the start of the season, the scoring machine has been quick to establish himself as one of the top big men in Division 2 in 2006.

Sturrock was unstoppable as he drained jumpshot after jumpshot. Continually taking bigger slower opponents to the hole or posting them up. He couldn't be stopped.

After a solid ABA career with Hume City and more recently, Diamond Valley, Sturrock chose to play with La Trobe Uni for 2006. An interesting choice for one who is clearly still capable of producing at the ABA level. However, with work commitments taking priority, LTU was an obvious choice when considering the more relaxed training regime and the opportunity to play with former junior team mates Devin Sturdy and Andrew Forbes.

LTU has struggled for an inside scoring prescence in years gone by, and with Neill McCormack retiring at the end of 2005, the team also lacked a team poster boy! Enter T Sturrock with his flock of seagulls hair and Country Road Catalogue looks!

Widely regarded as having never met a shot he didn't like, Sturrock has worked hard to dispel that myth by distributing 3 assists on more than 1 occasion.

Whether it be scoring points, grabbing rebounds or just sending out the Blue Steel stare. LTU is just glad he's in the red, black and white for 2006!

The men are back in action this weekend against Warragul in Warragul on Saturday night whilst the women's team takes on Sunbury in Sunbury. Both games are sure to be great with the men keen to avenge an earlier loss and the women aiming to get a second win over the more fancied Jets.
