STURROCK NAMED PLAYER OF THE MONTH
After sitting out the early part of the season due to injury, Sturrock's superb shooting and excellent playmaking have caused match up problems for opposition coaches.
The month began is spectacular fashion when Sturrock unleashed 47 points on an unsuspecting Western Port. Sturrock then went on a rampage averaging 34.8 points for the month on 56% shooting to go with 9.8 rebounds per game.
Not just a scorer, Sturrock has brought an unselfish element to the team this season and he averaged 1.2 assists a game for May including a career high 3 assists against Horsham.
When informed of the award, Sturrock exclaimed,"My Kevin Anstey moment in the spotlight has arrived*. I feel extremely honoured by the Big V for this award, however I could not have done it without my team mates." Truer words could not have been spoken with team mates such as Peter Leimonitis, Dev Sturdy, Dean Sutton and Paul DiMarzio stepping up at different times, forcing to teams to play Sturrock straight up.
As the season enters June, the Eagles look to keep their 5 game winning streak alive this Saturday night against the McKinnon Cougars on Saturday night at McKinnon.
*The Kevin Anstey moment refers to Tim's playing days with Diamond Valley where Anstey felt that he was an unknown in the league until he received a Player of the Month Award.
