EAGLES FLY INTO PLAYOFFS
Once again, a fantastic all round team effort carved out the win. League leading scorer, Tim Sturrock put in a stock standard 31 points whilst Paul DiMarzio, Pete Leimonitis, Dev Sturdy and Neville Chivhanganye were also in double figures.
The win actually put LTU into 2nd place on percentage and LTU's current 3rd position has confused many as the team also had head to head advantage on Monash Uni and Maccabi. However, the Big V follows FIBA rules which state that in a 3 way tie (LTU, Monash, Maccabi), the games played between the 3 teams are then made into a mini ladder. Monash 1st (3 wins 1 loss), LTU 2nd(2 wins- 2losses), Maccabi 3rd (1 win - 3 losses). Therefore Warragul stayed in top spot, Monash Uni 2nd, LTU 3rd, Maccabi 4th and McKinnon 5th.
What this means is that LTU now play a Qualifying final against Monash Uni at Monash Uni this Saturday night at 8.30pm. The winner from this game will play Warragul for the first entrance into the Grand Final. The losing team will play the winner of the Elimination final to be played between Maccabi and McKinnon.
