THIS weekend's semi final winner has a real shot at the title.
The elimination match between Grafton Tigers and reigning premiers Port Macquarie should be a beauty.
The Magpies have won six of their past seven outings and have really hit peak form at the right end of the season.
The late-season recruitment of Adam Eckermann has boosted their attack and nobody doubts they could go all the way.
Likewise, the Tigers have one of the most potent attacks in the competition but have not had a full side available for most of the year.
But I hear on the grapevine they are near full strength on this occasion and will take some tossing.
Whoever wins will be a big chance of progressing to the grand final in a fortnight.
Why would you?
IN A feisty last round of matches the umpires put in four separate reports and you have to ask yourself why players would risk missing finals. with undisciplined actions.
Port Macquarie’s Troy Kelly was suspended for two weeks while Sawtell-Toormina’s Mitchell Cole was found not guilty.
Grafton will be without club runner Warren Bagnall this week as the result of a misconduct charge.
Quality predicted
THE ROSTER season has seen some blowouts but I am quite excited at the contests coming up at C.ex International Stadium over the next four weeks.
At senior level the four sides are very even and the same goes in reserve grade.
Coffs Swans tackle reigning premiers Camden Haven at 1pm. and that should be a ripper.
Macleay Valley has qualified for its first finals appearance in its first year in the under-18 grade.
The Eagles are quite capable of eliminating the Swans.
Coffs Hotel good sports
WHILE attending the tribunal on Wednesday evening I was reminded what a great job that group of volunteers does each season.
It is a thankless task and a most important one for the league.
Geoff Weeks is chairman and I will leave it to him to share the award with fellow members Ken Sheehan and George Solly.
Coffs Hotel has made it $30 this week to stretch the prize a bit further.
