STARS on Sunday

STARS FACE DESPERATE RAMS

By Scott Spicer

On Sunday afternoon the Youthtown Stars look to continue their recent run of form when they host the Scenic Circle Canterbury Rams at ASB Stadium (tip-off 3:30pm).

With a pair of road victories over the Canterbury Rams and Nelson Giants in their South Island double-header in Round 2 of the NBL, the Stars returned to Auckland to again defeat the Giants and extend their winning streak to three games in a row.

The Rams will be looking to avenge their earlier 94-79 loss to the Stars in Christchurch and move up from the bottom of the table. With one of the youngest teams in the league, the Rams will primarily rely on the scoring prowess of imports Mychal Green and Michael Joiner, and the leadership of playmaker Jeremy Kench.

Sunday's game also marks the 100th appearance for Casey Frank in a Stars uniform. Frank has averaged 16.2 points and 9.1 rebounds since entering the league in 2002.
