Premiers dominate in junior final wins Redlynch proved it could be a footballing force of the future by winning the AFL Cairns Juniors under-12 grand final on Sunday.

It was Redlynch's first grand final in any age group since 2005 and the first time the team had won the under-12 title.

McCartney tops under 18s, four share Kennedy medal Port Douglas on baller Ben McCartney has a new item for his trophy cabinet after winning the Reg Lillywhite Medal for the best under 18 player at the AFL Cairns Juniors presentation night.

McCartney, who also played senior football for the Crocs this season, topped the vote count at Cazalys on Monday, beating home North Cairns' Marley Anderson.

Future Bright For Young Tigers The North Cairns Senior team may have had some lean times in recent years but the future is bright as a wave of talent comes through their junior ranks.

5 of the 9 U18 Kookaburra representatives, Josh Marriot, Madhi Chizari, Tim Hanly, Michael Lovell and Marley Anderson as well as shadow Josh Avison are all Tigers juniors.
