Look at this Cape Crusader The US Freedom women's AFL team was the headline act but it was a Cape crusader who stole the show at Cazalys on Monday night.

Giant 16-year-old ruckman Mary David dominated the game as the AFL Cairns women’s representative side defeated the US 3.10 (28) to 1.5 (11).

Cairns gets up on the USA! Well, what a game! The US Freedom Women's AFL team gave Cairns a bloody good show! A good crowd enjoyed the fantastic BBQ from the Manunda Hawks Women's Club who even threw a few shrimps on the barbie to impress the visitors. more -->

USA Freedom team in Australia The AFL Cairns Women's League will host it's first Womens AFL International game this Monday night (10th Aug) at Cazalys Stadium, 7pm.

The visiting US Freedom Womens AFL Team will be in Australia to play 4 games whilst on tour.

Far North Women hope nine is a lucky number Cairns coach Laura Martin hopes nine of her players are rewarded with a state call-up when Queensland announces its squad for the AFL Women's National Championships this week.

The Cairns girls headed to Brisbane last weekend for games against Brisbane North and Brisbane South as part of the state titles.

Ground finally a batterfield for state guernseys Cairns Australian rules women's players can earn their Queensland guernseys on the field instead of on reputation at this weekend's state championships in Brisbane.

A squad of 21 players flies out tomorrow ahead of games against Brisbane North on Saturday and Brisbane South on Sunday.

Centrals' Premiership hopes go west as Souths reign supreme Souths are the new AFL Cairns Women's LEague champions after scoring a nail-biting two-point victory over Centrals Trinity Beach in Saturday's grand final.
Souths coach Laura Martin said watching the match had been a nerve-wracking experience but she was thrilled with her side's 2.3(20) to 2.6 (18) comeback victory after it had registered just a solitary point by halftime.
"I couldn't look some of the time and I think I stopped breathing a couple of times," she said.
"The girls really dug deep and clawed their way back into the game." more -->
Norths' title chances lost in the mud February is turning into a month to forget for Cairns teams named Norths.

A week after Mulgrave ended Norths' streak of five straight Cricket Far North A grade premierships, Centrals Trinity Beach ensured Norths would not win its sixth straight AFL Cairns Women's League title.

Centrals produced a disciplined display of wet weather football to outgun Norths in Saturday's Preliminary final at Watsons Oval.

Norths' title shot heading South Norths' five-year reign as AFL Cairns Women's League premiers is under threat after the club fell to an impressive Souths in the first semi-final at Watsons Oval.

The 2.7 (19) to 1.1 (7) defeat means Norths have only one more chance to make the season decider.

While far from conceding her team's title defence, Norths player-coach Jo Butland said her players might as well abandon their premiership ambitions if they repeat their lethargic showing of last Saturday.
