The Annual AFL Masters (AFLM) Australian Rules Competition is set to hit Townsville this weekend with a week of fun and an opening ceremony not to be missed.
The national carnival consists of players in age groups 35+ 40+ 45+ 50+ and 55+. The event is now in its 31st year, and has been held in a variety of States and Territories with the Sunshine coast playing host last year.
The 2011 event attracted 42 teams with 869 players, 32 umpires, officials and support staff. When combined with wives/partners and families, the total participation was 1566, with a total expenditure of $4.2 million.
It is estimated that the total expenditure in 2012 by carnival participants, supporters and families will be just over $4.2 million.
