The Under 9 age group is about skill development. They do not keep scores or ladders, or play finals. Players showcase their skills in a round robin event, called the Under 9 Fun Day.
Each club is allotted a tent as their base. Teams are allocated a timeslot of either a morning or afternoon competition. In each competition, teams play three games, umpired by a parent from each team.
Games consist of two halves, each taking 7.5 minutes. At the end of the first half, players swap ends with no half time break.
At the end of each game, the umpires each nominate one player from the opposing team that was best on ground for that match. Those players receive a best player trophy. All players receive participation medallions from the DDJFL.
TIP: Players should bring a change of clothes and spectators should come prepared in case of extreme weather conditions.
