Wooo Hooo! U15's win AFL Vic Metropolitan Junior Championships Grand Final

DDJFL U15 Division 1 Premiers

On Saturday, 27 June 2009, the Dandenong and District Junior Football League U15's headed to Box Hill City Oval to take on last year's premiers, Yarra Junior Football League.

Coach, Jason Quirk's pre-match address to the players was strong and encouraging.  He asked the players to give their all, but above all to play a strong defensive game.  The team didn't let Jason down and they delivered what was asked of them.

The match was close from the start, with Yarra taking a 5 point lead at 1/4 time; and a 3 point lead at 1/2 time.  DDJFL turned on their magic in the 3rd quarter and took a 13 point lead with Yarra kicking 1 point for the quarter.

With our hearts in our throats, Yarra came back in the fourth quarter kicking four straight goals to regain the lead.  Dandenong put in their finest effort and fought back in the last minutes to win the match by 8 points.

Final score: YJFL def. by DDJFL (10.4-64 10.12-72)

Best on Ground Medal winner went to DDJFL player Brad Hermans.
