The game started off with a bang for the Australian side, with bleachers full of locals supporting their country.

The New Caledonians were in for a tough match but they gave it everything and put up a good fight.

The first quarter began with 8 points to Australia and nothing from New Caledonia; it was proving to be a very difficult game to the visitors.

After a time out was called by the New Caledonian coach, the girls seemed to work much more cohesively and had a much better defence line up.

The New Caledonians fought back and started to make a comeback to Australia but it wasn’t enough to overcome Australia at all.

The first quarter scores were 26 to 8.

The second quarter hit off to a fast start with both teams pumped and ready to play. The Australian players all kept very strong against their opponents, barely letting them near the ball.

Georgia Pineau and Bride Kennedy-Hopoate from Australia were both high scorers for their team which is what got their team up in the second quarter.

Both players scored 12 points each for their team, 24 between the two of them was contributed to Australia’s score.

Allissonne Laukau and Roselyne Forest from New Caledonia were the highest scorers from their team scoring 4 points each with a total of 8 points between them, nearly all of their teams points.

The second quarter finished with the scores, Australia 61 to New Caledonia’s 12

Third quarter hit off to a fast start, New Caledonia were a bit slow moving and Australia just rocketed through them, but they still pushed hard and tried their best to defend and block the Australian team but the height and fast reflexes were a lot to overcome for the New Caledonians.

During the third quarter although the score wasn’t on New Caledonia’s side they kept persisting and pushing through. The game became a little rougher and intense but the New Caledonians showed their good sportsmanship by helping all the Australian players off the ground.

Australia kept their ground and stayed strong, as quarter-by-quarter more crowds appeared to support their countries side.

Bride Kennedy-Hopoate(AUS) showed a lot of determination and was a stand out player for the quarter.

New Caledonia played hard and strong but just didn’t manage to take the lead and overcome Australia with the Australian side leading by 79. The third quarter ended and the scores were, Australia 93 to New Caledonia’s 14.

The fourth quarter started strongly and intensely and was just like the third quarter, with Australia’s massive lead, the New Caledonian’s slowed down and it seemed the Australian’s lead was just too much for them.

With 6 minutes left, the Australian’s hit 100 points, bringing their lead up to 83 points.

The game was a great win for Australia, which will greatly increase their percentage on the ladder for the competition, winning 117 to 21.
