Day 1 - Men's P1 - Australia 84 def Guam 46

Two teams ‘in it to win it’, the intense game between the Australia and Guam Men’s team was sure to be an exciting match for all.

With a crowd full of sheer cheer and laughter, the Australian and Guam women’s team come down to support their boys.

Abiola Akintola with a staggering 100 per-cent accuracy scored Australia’s first 3-pointer, while Guam’s Joshua Sebastian was their highest scorer for the first half of the match collecting 7 points alone for Guam.

By half time this fast paced match between these two enthusiastic countries soon came to the end with Australia taking the lead 39-20.

Starting off the second half with a 19 point deficit and the momentum all going Australia’s way, Guam had a mountainous challenge ahead of them.

Australia’s sheer size seemed to dominate over Guam’s speed and athleticism, as every offensive surge was met with a wall of yellow shirts, and ended in Australian score.

In a display of raw vertical leaps, Guam’s Reed Meyer (6 points, 9 rebounds) and Australia’s Thomas Wilson (7 points, 9 rebounds) treated the crowd to soaring leaps at both ends.

Continuing a dominant performance, and surely sending clear intensions for success at this tournament, Australia ran out 84-46 winners in a controlled, yet explosive game.
