Day 3 – Women’s P2 – New Zealand 92 def Guam 21

With the vibe and excitement of the first match of the third day the game hit off quickly and strongly. Both teams arrived ready to play, and ready to win.

New Zealand started the quarter strongly with very fast reflexes taking an early lead in the quarter.

Guam fought back hard and didn’t give up, staying strong and pushing through.

The second quarter started with a fast break from New Zealand and two goals within the first minute, as Guam kept going and trying to overcome them.

With three minutes left in the second quarter New Zealand were almost 10 times the score of Guam but they still kept going.

Throughout the first half Charlotte Elley and Hanna Tusa both scored 12 points each for their teams which totals to 24 points between them.

The two girls were crucial to New Zealand’s score in the first half scoring almost half their sides points.

Guam’s defense and reflexes were very strong in the second quarter but the height and strength of New Zealand was just too much for Guam to overcome in the first half of the match.

The second quarter ended with New Zealand leading by 50 with New Zealand on 57 to Guam's 7.

After the half time break Guam came back ready to go again, scoring an easy goal in the first couple of minutes.

The half time break was a positive for Guam, with their side coming back better than ever with strong defense and faster reflexes.

The third quarter ended with New Zealand leading by 66 with New Zealand on 78 to Guam’s 12.

Gemilie Ilao and Alina Bonto both from Samoa scored 5 points each with 10 points between the both of them, a massive contribution to their sides score.

The fourth and final quarter started off once again quickly with both teams ready to go and play the last quarter.

With the scores still quite different in the fourth quarter, New Zealand just kept shooting and scoring while Guam tried to over come them.

Pene Bishop-Paenga from New Zealand scored three three-pointers over the whole match which really affected New Zealand’s score.

Caroline Hardeman, also from New Zealand scored a massive 20 points for her side.

New Zealand kept their lead throughout the whole match and as much as Guam fought hard they were just unable to over come New Zealand’s height and strength.

The game ended with New Zealand leading by 71 with the scores New Zealand 92 to Guam 21.
