Two teams ‘in it to win it’, the intense game between the Australia and Guam Men’s team was sure to be an exciting match for all.
With a crowd full of sheer cheer and laughter, the Australian and Guam women’s team come down to support their boys.
Abiola Akintola with a staggering 100 per-cent accuracy scored Australia’s first 3-pointer, while Guam’s Joshua Sebastian was their highest scorer for the first half of the match collecting 7 points alone for Guam.
By half time this fast paced match between these two enthusiastic countries soon came to the end with Australia taking the lead 39-20.
Starting off the second half with a 19 point deficit and the momentum all going Australia’s way, Guam had a mountainous challenge ahead of them.
Australia’s sheer size seemed to dominate over Guam’s speed and athleticism, as every offensive surge was met with a wall of yellow shirts, and ended in Australian score.
In a display of raw vertical leaps, Guam’s Reed Meyer (6 points, 9 rebounds) and Australia’s Thomas Wilson (7 points, 9 rebounds) treated the crowd to soaring leaps at both ends.
Continuing a dominant performance, and surely sending clear intensions for success at this tournament, Australia ran out 84-46 winners in a controlled, yet explosive game.
