Wesley's Chapel - a place of history

Team Fiji attends church service .....

Team Fiji were honoured to have been invited to attend service at the Wesley's Chapel & Leysian Mission - a church with very strong historical links to Fiji:

Most of the Missionary who came to Fiji in the early 1800s were Methodist and some from Wesley's Chapel like Rev John Hunt & Rev James Culvert. They could have inspired Chief Seru Cakobau to seed Fiji to the British Crown instead of America. They also translated the Greek version of the Bible to Fijian and Culvert brought the transcript to England to be printed.Mrs Culvert cured the Chief Cakobau of a great illness, and that it was said, made him convert to Christianity. He gave her his War Club to denounce his evil ways and it is now with his plate in the Museum of Methodism at Wesley'sChapel.Wesleyan and Methodism are of the same denomination in religious terms for early Methodist were of the Wesley movements that moved away from the Church of England.A Bust of Rev Culvert of Fiji is in the Chapel at the top right corner to show  what John Wesley said "The world is my Parish".We have come from the furthest part of the world to worship at Wesley's Chapel because we are indeed still in his Parish.

That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
