Player of the Week


Round 13 and 14 Men - David Cooper

Norwood's David Cooper had 33 rebounds and 10 blocks in two games over the weekend, to win the player of the week award.

 

Cooper's teammate Todd Matthews had 57 points in two games on the weekend, and other good performances came from North's Nick Hambour who had 24 points at 76% against Woodville, Erik Burdon who had 58 points in two games and Dusty Rychart who had 41 points and 30 rebounds in two games. Centrals' Matt Atkins had the highest score of the round with 40 points against Eastern.

 




Round 13 and 14 Women - Tracey Beatty

Despite a loss in a low scoring game against Norwood, Southern's Tracey Beatty has won another player-of-the-week award, with a stellar performance of 33 points and 23 rebounds.

 

Other good performances came from North's Jo Hill had 42 points in two games across the weekend, Sturt's Angela Marino, who led her team to two victories and had 28 points against Forestville, teammate Monique Bowley, who had 18 rebounds in the same game, West's Sam Woosnam, who had 21 points in each of her two games, and South's Kerrin Truslove, who had 24 points at 56% and 19 rebounds in two games.




Round 12 Men - David Cooper

Norwood's David Cooper has picked up his second player of the week award, this time for a stat line against South which included 20 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 blocks.

 

Other good performances came from the Forestville duo of Doug McDonald-Taylor who had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Scott Arnold who had 26 points, 5 rebounds,  6 assists and 5 steals, against Woodville. South's Steve Pilkington also fared well with 26 points and 9 rebounds against Norwood




Round 12 Women - Rebecca Duke

The women's player of the week for round 12 is Forestville's Rebecca Duke. In just her second game of the season since returning from a shoulder injury, Duke had 22 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals against Woodville.

 

Eastern's round 1 winner Jane Symons had 20 points and 9 rebounds against North, and North's Tania Dhu had 19 points at 72% in the same game. In the best statistical output of her four games since returning to Australia, North's Jo Hill had 17 points and 8 rebounds.


Round 11 Men - Shane Breheney

Eastern's Shane Breheny is the men's player of the week for Round 11. Breheny is averaging 18.9 points and 11.8 rebounds per game this season, and had 29 points at 63%, and 19 rebounds in Eastern's 1 point loss to Woodville to take this week's award.

 

Breheny beat out the NBL-talent of Forestville's Kane Oakley, who had 26 points and CABL season high 23 rebounds against Forestville, and North's Dusty Rychart, who had 29 points and 17 rebounds against Southern.




Round 11 Women - Monique Bowley

The women's player of the week for round 11 is Sturt's Monique Bowley. Bowley had a Central ABL season high 22 rebounds against the Bearcat front court of Sam Woosnam, Cherie Smith and Kate Jenner.

 

Other notable performances came from Woodville's Sarah Costello, who had 14 points and 11 assists in Woodville's win over Eastern, and Forestville's Claire Gardner, who had 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists against South Adelaide.




Round 10 Men - David Cooper

In the closest selection of the season, the player of the week for round 10 is Norwood's David Cooper. Cooper had the second CABL triple double for 2007 in a 1 point overtime loss to Sturt, with 22 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks. 

North's Dusty Rychart and Sturt's Darren Ng were unlucky to miss out on the award. Rychart had 43 points and 19 rebounds against West, and Ng had 35 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists, but both had 7 turnovers. South's Damian Scanlon also had 41 points against Centrals.




Round 10 Women - Nerrida Cooper

The women's player of the week for round 10 is Southern's Nerrida Cooper. Cooper had 16 points and 19 rebounds against Woodville.

Other notable performances included 26 points from Forestville's Kate Malpass against Eastern, 24 points for the Mavericks' Tess Madgen in the same game, 23 points and 8 rebounds from Woodville's Jodie Barratt against Southern, 15 points at 63% from West's Sam Woosnam against North, and 15 points and 10 rebounds from Eastern's Jane Symons against Forestville.




Round 9 Men - Jye Watson

The player of the week for round 9 is Eastern's Jye Watson. Watson's 48 points, which he posted in the Mavericks' 8 point win over South, was the league's second highest individual score for the season.

Other notable performances came from Anthony Spadavecchia, who had 29 points and 13 assists for West against Woodville, and Norwood's Todd Matthews, whose 34 points against North included a 17 point third quarter. Sturt's Jordan Dodman had 21 points at 80% against Centrals, and Norwood's David Cooper had 17 points and 15 rebounds against North.




Round 9 Women - Tracey Beatty

The player of the week for round 9 is Southern's Tracey Beatty. Beatty, the league's first two-time winner this season, had 25 points and 17 rebounds in Southern's 1 point victory over Forestville.

Other notable performances came from South's Jenine Browne, who had 26 points and 10 rebounds against Eastern, West's Jess Mahoney who had 13 points and 6 steals against Woodville, Woodville's Brooke Sidebottom who had 13 rebounds against West, and North's Ali Trewartha, who had 16 points and 8 rebounds against Norwood.




Round 8 Men - Kane Oakley

The player of the week for round 8 is Forestville's Kane Oakley. Oakley had an impressive 50 points, 25 rebounds and 5 blocks against Woodville.

Other notable performances came from Oakley's teammate Matt Sutton, who had a triple double against West Adelaide, Eastern's Brad Bungey, who had 26 points and 14 rebounds in the Mavericks' first win of the season, North's Michael Zorich, who had 24 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals against Central Districts and Norwood's Todd Mathews, who was a rebounds and 3 assists away from a triple double.




Round 8 Women - Lauren King

The women's player of the week for round  8 is West Adelaide's Lauren King. King had 27 points and 12 rebounds against Forestville, in the absence of teammates Sam Woosnam, Cherie Smith, Jess Mahoney and Kate Jenner.

Other notable performances came from Southern's Nerrida Cooper, who had 26 points and 13 rebounds against Eastern, Sturt's Angela Marino, who had 23 points and 5 steals against South Adelaide, and Forestville's Dee Ranford, who had 41 points in two games.




Rounds 6 and 7 Men - Marcus Ng

The player of the week for round 5 is Sturt's Marcus Ng. Ng had 36 points against Woodville, including 29 at half time, and 21 against North Adelaide.

Other notable performances came from Woodville's Luke Mapunda who had 26 points and 20 rebounds against Centrals, Southern's Brad Gerlach who had 51 points against West and South, Eastern's Shane Breheny who had 40 points and 22 rebounds against Norwood and West and North's Erik Burdon who had 40 points in one game against South.




Rounds 6 and 7 Women - Kate Jenner

The player of the week for rounds 6 and 7 is West Adelaide's Kate Jenner. Jenner had the impressive stat line of 13 points, 21 rebounds 5 assists and 6 steals against Eastern, and also had 15 rebounds the night before against Southern.

Other notable performances included 35 rebounds from Norwood's Emily Fryters against Eastern and Forestville, 50 points against Eastern and Forestville from her team mate Nicole Romeo, and 35 rebounds and 10 blocks from Southern's Tracey Braithwaite against West and South.




Round 5 Men - Michael Zorich

The player of the week for round 5 is North's Michael Zorich. Zorich had 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 9 steals in North's win against Woodville.

Other good performances came from teammate Nick Hambour who had 26 points and 14 rebounds, round 1 winner West's Anthony Spadavecchia, who scored 30 points against South, Norwood's David Cooper who had 10 blocks against Southern, and Sturt's Marcus Ng who had 30 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.




Round 5 Women - Carly Stark

The player of the week for round 5 is Carly Stark, whose 24 points, including 6 of 7 three pointers, was instrumental in Norwood's upset victory over Southern. Stark had close competition from teammate Nicole Romeo, who had 25 points at 43%.

Other notable performances this week included 18 points and 15 rebounds from Woodville's Jodie Barratt and 20 points and 13 rebounds from Southern's Tracey Beatty, both in losing efforts, as well as 27 points in 23 minutes from Erin Lorenzini in North's comfortable victory over Woodville.





Round 4 Men - Todd Matthews

Norwood's Todd Matthews is the men's player of the week for round 4. Matthews had 17 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals in Norwood's win over West on Sunday. Other notable performances came from Woodville's Cam Wilson, who had 27 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists, going perilously close to a triple double for the second week in a row, Centrals' Jarrod Graves who had 32 points, Eastern's Shane Breheny, who had 24 points and 13 rebounds, Southern's Dan Lalic who had 32 points at 15 of 20 shooting, Marcus Ng who had 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, and Woodville's Luke Mapunda who had 22 points and 11 rebounds.




Round 4 Women - Dee Ranford

Forestville's Dee Ranford is the women's player of the week for round 4. Ranford had 29 points in Forestville's win over North on Saturday.

Other notable performances came from North's Erin Lorenzini who had 23 points and 8 rebounds, West's Lauren King who had 17 points and 9 rebounds in 21 minutes, South's Kerrin Truslove, who had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Woodville's Jodie Barratt, who had 14 points and 13 rebounds.




Rounds 2 and 3 Men - Dusty Rychart

In his first weekend in the Central ABL, North's Dusty Rychart is the men's player-of-the-week for round 2 and 3. Rychart had 22 points and 15 rebounds against Southern, then backed up with 30 points and 11 rebounds against Eastern.

Other notable performances include:

Norwood's Todd Matthews, who had 11 points and 11 assists against Centrals, and 19 and 11 against South

South's Lucas Smith who had 29 points and 12 rebounds against Forestville, and 18 and 9 against Norwood

Norwood's Dan Thompson who had 18 points and 8 rebounds against Centrals, and 18 points and 12 rebounds against South

Southern's Ben Hodges, who had 25 points against North

Eastern's Shane Breheny who had 22 points against Woodville

Sturt's Jordan Dodman, who had 22 points at 81% against West and 26 points at 78% against Southern

Sturt's Darren Ng, who had 12 assists against West and 11 assists against Southern

Woodville's Cam Wilson who was 1 rebound and 1 assist off a triple double against Eastern

Centrals' Jarrod Graves, who had 32 points against West




Rounds 2 and 3 Women - Tracey Beatty

WNBL Grand Final MVP Tracey Beatty is the women's player of the week for round 2 and 3. Beatty's 16 point second half was pivotal in Southern's 1 point win over North, and has had a double double in each of her 3 games this season.

Other notable performances include:

  • Sturt's Monique Bowley, who had 21 points and 11 rebounds against Norwood and 10 points and 11 rebounds against Southern
  • Sturt's Angela Marino, who had 25 an 18 points against West and Southern respectively, and has hit 28 of 29 free throws this season
  • South's Vikki Kelson, who had 18 points and 14 rebounds against Forestville, and 14 points and 9 rebounds against Norwood
  • West's Sam Woosnam, who had 20 points and 11 rebounds against Sturt
  • South's Jenine Browne, who had 19 points against both Forestville and Norwood
  • Southern's Leah Cannon, who had 8 assists against both North and Sturt



Round 1 Men - Anthony Spadavecchia

West Adelaide's Anthony Spadavecchia is the men's player of the week for round 1. Spadavecchia scored 20 points in a tough battle against a deep North Adelaide back court, and also had 8 assists and 6 rebounds.

Other notable performances included 19 points and 18 boards from Forestville's Kane Oakley, 16 and 17 from West's Chris Molitor, 26 and 14 from Central District's Justin Clayton, 22 points in 25 minutes from Norwood's Keith Krause and a good all-round game from North's Michael Zorich, who was 3 asssists shy of a triple double.




Round 1 Women - Angela Marino

The women's player of the week for round 1 is Sturt's Angela Marino. The reigning Grand Final MVP scored 30 points, including a perfect 10 for 10 from the foul line, in Sturt's victory over Norwood, and also dished out 9 assists.

Other notable performances this week include 20 points and 16 rebounds from Southern's Tracey Beatty, 12 points and 14 rebounds from Sturt's Monique Bowley, 30 points and 8 rebounds from North's Erin Lorenzini and 18 points and 20 rebounds from West's Sam Woosnam.
